Europe's Rivers and Castle's itinerary

Your cruise will begin in Luxembourg, one of the smallest countries in Europe and end in the historical, impressive city of Nuremberg. You will meander along the Main River to the dramatic Upper Middle Rhine and finally journey to the vineyard clad hills of the Moselle.

Gaze up to see the incredible castles along the Rhine. Hike through old castle ruins. Walk through the medieval towns. Soar in a gondola above the lush vineyards. Bike along the Moselle.

Along the way, savor wines of the region and taste Barbieri & Kempe wines.

Barbieri Wine Company was founded in 2005 by Master Sommelier Paolo Barbieri. Paolo is from Rome, and left Italy at age 22, where he moved to England with a dream of learning English and pursuing a career in the restaurant industry. He started off working various restaurant jobs in England and on the cruise lines, which eventually led him to the United States

He later transitioned to sommelier - where he spent over thirty years managing numerous world class wine lists, became a Master Sommelier, and was exposed to the best wines in the world.

Paolo’s exposure to the world’s wine inspired him to start making small lots from Santa Barbara County in his garage. The small wine press used in his initial batches can still be found in his tasting room in Los Olivos, CA. During the early development of Barbieri Wine Company he used his experience to master his wines and now crafts them in the Santa Ynez valley of California.

Erin Kempe’s career in the culinary world started back in her home state of Texas, where she worked in several restaurants, which helped to develop her love for food and wine. A move to Las Vegas brought her to work with culinary masters and James Beard Winners. After meeting Paolo in 2007, she became passionate and eager to help with the wine making. Together with Paolo, she created a new label under her name, which focus on Bordeaux Varietals. Their combined tasting room is in Los Olivos, CA.

Paolo and Erin will present two different talks on the wines of this region, as well as the wines of their own growing region.

During their talks, you will receive generous tastings of their winery's full wine selection. Barbieri & Kempe wines are vibrant and complex, sharing characteristics which will vary in relation to the location of the vineyard.

One special evening of the cruise, the chef will pair a locally sourced dinner featuring the wines of Barbieri & Kempe. And throughout the river cruise, AMA Waterways will feature local wines of the region.

Come join me, The Little Redhead, Kristen, owner of ArtoFire, Felicia, winemaker for Orange Boots Wines and Angela, CEO and owner of Ms Green Thumb Plants for some candle making, wine tasting, plant potting, and charcuterie, as Kristen teaches you how to make your very own candle with your personal scent, and you sip Felicia’s amazing wines while munching on one of Lindy's famous charcuterie boards.  With an opportunity for you to pick and pot your own succulent and/or purchase her amazing plants for a small additional fee at time of event. She will also share some of her plant care tips.
